Tender for the Sale of Idle Fishing Vessels

  1. Background

In accordance with section 32(5) of the Ports Act 1998, the Port Master has, by way of a Notice dated 16 January 2025, formally requested the owner, agent or representative of fishing vessels lying idle in the port to take all reasonable steps to cause the idle vessels to be removed from the port.

In view of non-compliance with the said Notice, the Mauritius Ports Authority is proceeding with the sale of idle fishing vessels, located at the Trou Fanfaron Fishing Port on an “as is where is” basis, in line with section 52 of the Ports Act 1998. Potential Bidders are therefore invited to submit their bids for the following fishing vessels:

  • Sea Wonder
  • Armaan 1
  • Putrajaya 33
  • Roshan
  • Marine Star
  1. Pre-purchase Inspection of idle fishing vessels

The vessels are available at Trou Fanfaron Fishing Port for inspection by any potential buyer. Request for inspection should be made to the Port Master on email address [email protected] or by fax on +230 242 8314.

  1. Request for Clarifications

Any clarification or additional information sought by any prospective bidder should be addressed to the Director-General on [email protected] or by fax on +230 240 0856 at least fourteen (14) days before the deadline for the submission of bids.

  1. Validity Period

Bids shall remain valid for a period of ninety (90) days as from the closing date.

  1. Basis for Pricing

Bids should be made as a lump sum for all vessels or per vessel on a no VAT basis and quoted in Mauritian Rupees or USD or Euro. The price shall be firm and fixed till the end of the validity period.

  1. Bid Security

Bids should be accompanied by a bid security in the form of a Bank Cheque or Bank Guarantee from a recognized local commercial bank or international bank through a correspondent bank located in Mauritius equivalent to 20% of the total bid price. Bids not so secured will not be accepted.

  1. Payment and Delivery

Payment shall be made for the full amount due within fifteen (15) calendar days after issue of the Letter of Acceptance and the vessels should be removed out of the port within thirty (30) calendar days after payment.

  1. Submission of Bids

Bids along with bid securities, in sealed envelopes clearly marked “Sale of idle fishing vessel”, should be addressed to the Director-General, Mauritius Ports Authority, 1st Floor, H. Ramnarain Building, Mer Rouge, Port Louis, Republic of Mauritius.

  1. Deadline for the Submission of Bids

Bids should be either deposited in the Tender Box located in the Chief Officer’s Office, Mauritius Ports Authority, 1st Floor, H. Ramnarain Building, Mer Rouge, Port Louis, Republic of Mauritius or submitted by registered post or courier so as to reach the Mauritius Ports Authority on or before 22 April 2025 at 16.00 hrs (Mauritian time) at latest.

Offers received after the specified closing date and time will not be considered.

The MPA reserves the right to accept or reject any bid and to cancel the bidding exercise at any time prior to award, without thereby incurring any liability to any Bidder.
